VBLOCK™ READY CERTIFICATION

Before joining the VCE™ Technology Alliance Partner Program, VCE is encouraging all of its partner companies to become members of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) Program and to achieve VMware Ready status through the appropriate VMware Ready Program. All VCE Technology Alliance Partner Program partners must complete Vblock™ Ready certification for at least one of their products within 12 months of signing the partnership agreement or they must meet specific VMware Ready requirements.

For partners that have achieved the VMware Ready Application Software certification before joining the VCE Technology Alliance Partner Program, VCE waives the requirements for Vblock Ready certification and will grant the Vblock Ready logo upon execution of the VCE Technology Alliance Partner Program agreement.

All other technology companies must agree to have at least one product Vblock Ready certified within 12 months of signing the VCE Technology Alliance Partner Program agreement. These VCE Technology Alliance Partner Program partners will have access to the Vblock Ready logo upon successful completion of Vblock Ready certification testing.

Superna Overview, Vblock Ready Certification Process

VCE has selected Superna as our certification vendor because of their expertise and extensive history working with EMC.

To accelerate ISV and IHV migration to cloud-enabled infrastructure, Superna offers certification testing services to assess the ability of ISV and IHV solutions to meet VCE criteria for entrance into the VCE TAP Program. The Superna Qualify certification testing program is used by network and storage equipment manufacturers who need to ensure that their systems will interoperate.

Application Certification

This service option is a comprehensive set of tests that validate a solution’s ability to run on Vblock™ Systems under normal operating conditions and failure scenarios to ensure that the solution recovers, performs normally, and raises faults to administrators for critical operational procedures without manual intervention. ISV and IHV solutions (e.g., database applications, virtual desktop infrastructure software, and virtually hosted applications) are installed according to documentation with on-site or remote access to Superna’s lab prior to the beginning of testing.

Criteria for certification include:

  • If the application runs on Vblock Systems it must be virtualized using the currently supported VMware hypervisor.
  • The application functions as designed and advertised.
  • The application must not interfere with the functional aspects of Vblock Systems.
  • The application must not adversely impact performance of Vblock Systems.
  • The candidate must adhere to industry best practices surrounding patch maintenance and release strategies.
  • The application must run on all versions of Vblock Systems.

Operational Certification

This certification focuses on validating products that integrate with Vblock Systems components to monitor, manage, provision, and extend feature sets of existing management modules included with Vblock Systems. Examples include platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) solutions that provision and managed Vblock Systems resources and Vblock Systems monitoring software.

Criteria for certification include:

  • If the application runs on Vblock Systems, it must be virtualized using the currently supported VMware hypervisor.
  • The application functions as designed and advertised.
  • The application must not interfere with the functional aspects of Vblock Systems.
  • The application must not adversely impact performance of Vblock Systems.
  • If the application interfaces with any Vblock Systems components, it must use industry standard and VCE supported security mechanisms and protocols.
  • The candidate must adhere to industry best practices surrounding patch maintenance and release strategies.
  • The application must run on all versions of Vblock Systems unless it was designed to meet the needs on a specific platform.
  • The application must work with all of the components as described in the official Vblock Systems bill of material. No individual component may be replaced.

CERTIFICATION DOCUMENTATION
