Formats and Specs

Quicktime files (downloaded, CD and DVD)
Basic Quicktime files are NTSC, 720x486, 29.97 fps progressive (which means that there is no interlacing, each frame is an individual frame). They employ the Photo jpeg codec for Quicktime.

Archival Images
Archival Quicktime files are NTSC, 720x486, 29.97 fps and generally interlaced.
They employ the Photo jpeg codec for Quicktime.

HD (High Def) Files
Quicktime files are 1920x1080, 24 fps progressive (which means that there is no interlacing, each frame is an individual frame). They employ the Photo jpeg codec for Quicktime.
Presently, we can only set up HD files for downloading on a special order basis, please inquire.

Non-Quicktime Formats

Cineon Files
Cineon Files are generally 2048 x 1556, 10-bit.
These files are usually about 12.1 Megabytes each and sequences will ship on a DVD.

8-Bit Files
Many older scanned files are generally 2048 x 1536, 8-bit.
These files are usually about 8 Megabytes each and sequences will ship on a DVD.


PC Versions
The older PC versions of the CDs sold by vce.com contain targa sequences and small avi movies. The files are named in dos 7.3 format. All CDs except Pyromania 1 also contain ifl files for importing into Studio Max. The small movies on Pyromania 1 are in the .avi and .fli formats and the audio files on Pyromania 1 and 2 are in the .wav format. Targa file sequences give the added advantage to be opened in Photoshop, whereas Quicktime movies cannot be opened in Photoshop.

MAC
The Mac version of the CDs sold by vce.com contain pict sequences and small Quicktime movies. The files are named in the (clip.frame#) format with no suffix identifying the format. The audio files on Pyromania 1 are imbedded into the Quicktime movies. The audio files on Pyromania 2 are separate and are in the .iff format. file sequences give the added advantage to be opened in Photoshop, whereas Quicktime movies cannot be Although each format is optimized for the target platform, most current version applications can recognize and use either format.
