Harris Corporation chooses Vblock™ Infrastructure Platforms from VCE to Enhance and Expand Harris Trusted Enterprise Cloud™ Solution
WASHINGTON, DC and DALLAS, Texas – February 17, 2011 – VCE, the Virtual Computing Environment Company, today announced with Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) that Harris has selected VCE’s Vblock™ Infrastructure Platforms to enhance and expand its Trusted Enterprise Cloud™ solution. VCE is a converged infrastructure product and solutions company formed by Cisco and EMC with investments from VMware and Intel.
Harris Trusted Enterprise Cloud is a unique Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering that enables clients to extend their IT infrastructures and confidently move their enterprise applications to the cloud, resulting in improved operational agility and reduced costs. Key differentiators in the Harris Trusted Enterprise Cloud offering are its proprietary trust enablement technologies, including the Global Trust Repository. These technologies, when fully integrated with the Vblock platforms, provide continuous monitoring, assurance, and attestation that the software and configurations in the cloud environment are deployed and operating according to specification and have not been compromised.
“Harris Trusted Enterprise Cloud brings a new level of trust and control to cloud computing,” said Blake Sallé, senior vice president, worldwide channels and public sector, VCE. “Harris’ patented trust technology, integrated virtualization systems, cyber infrastructure, and decades of experience delivering mission critical IT systems — combined with the industry-leading Vblock platforms — make cloud computing ready for business and government enterprises.”
With the Vblock platforms from VCE, Harris has an incredibly fast and efficient path to expand its Trusted Cloud Enterprise Services offering. The pre-tested, pre-integrated converged infrastructure platform eliminates the burdens of procuring, testing, deploying and maintaining IT infrastructure as capacity and/or performance requirements grow over time.
“VCE and its Vblock Infrastructure Platform combined with Harris’ trust enablement technologies are a major step forward in cloud computing,” said Dale Meyerrose, vice president and general manager of Harris Cyber Integrated Solutions. “With VCE, we get the latest cloud technology from industry leaders EMC, Cisco, and VMware in a fully integrated and tested platform that improves our time to market and enables us to deliver a next generation cloud service for enterprise computing.”
Harris’ patented trust technology provides positive integrity assurance for the elements used to deliver the Trusted Enterprise Cloud service, including servers, storage, network, building monitoring systems, and management software. This architecture is designed to meet the most stringent recommendations for critical information assurance from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Continuous monitoring will be implemented for all critical security and assurance controls to minimize security risk and maximize availability and service level compliance.
